Same Old Story

Thu Jan 22, 2009, 8:09 PM
Derek Kirk Kim has a blog post up about the Avatar movie and the racist casting decisions involved in its making. Read it here. I haven't got around to watching Avatar yet, but that's hardly the point. What's going on there is pretty disgusting.

Mr. Kim's set up a petition for creative professionals. I'm not a pro, but I know some of you reading this are. If this whole thing ticks you off (as it should), please think about signing it.

Sneak, Sneak, Shoot, Shoot

Fallout 3 is a fun game, alright. But something struck me as kind of strange. There are abandoned cars all over the wasteland, just sitting there rusting. But you can walk into a shack and see an operational computer on someone's desk. If these people could figure out how to repair computers/radios/robots after the EMP from a nuclear blast, surely somebody could figure out how to get a car running again.

Then again, maybe it's a matter of limited resources. Or maybe the working electronics were shielded from the blast somehow. Maybe I'm just over-thinking a video game.

OMG THEF!

Everyone seems to be in an uproar over this article, and I thought I'd weigh in on it.

When I first read it, it activated my Southern Kneejerk Reflex and I sent a undoubtedly confusing email to my representative on this "distressing" matter.

And as it turns out, I was wrong. In hindsight, the article was pretty poorly written, and the fact that there was no link to the legislation in question should've tipped me off.

But that's the great thing about Internet. There's always someone there to debunk the crap and set the naive straight.

Long Before Calvinball

If you're a fan of Calvin and Hobbes, you'll want to check out this link: [link] It features rarely-seen cartoons and artwork by Bill Watterson. They're not as funny as his later stuff, but the drawings are still worth a look.

Massacre, I Tells Ya!

I cleaned up my gallery. If something you particularly liked got the ax: sorry. Them's the breaks. Some of my stuff really sucked and it needed to be dealt with.
